Fishery Arial ShotSince opening in 1990, Cudmore, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire has grown to become one of the biggest fisheries in the UK with over 20 pools. Whether match fishing, pleasure bagging or targeting 30 lb carp and 40 lb catfish you’ll always find a great day’s sport.
Permanently staffed, there’s plenty of help and advice from our onsite bailiffs, plus a purpose built lake side café serving sandwiches and full breakfasts as well as a hot and cold lunch menu. Whether you’re after hardware, terminal tackle or bait, our Shopon site tackle shop has the answer, stocking all major brands such as Fox, Diawa , Pure Fishing and Preston , plus all the baits you need for success on the complex including fresh maggots and worms.
Noted for offering arguably the fairest match venues possible – five of the match pools have records of over 200 lb - there are regular open fixtures mid-week, Saturdays and Sundays. For specimen anglers there’s the option of night fishing to target those wary bigger fish whilst enjoying the beautiful wildlife such as deer, badgers and rare birds around the lakes. From the smallest detail the lakes at Cudmore are designed with one thing in mind – creating the ultimate angling experience.

The Lakes

milo 1Tara and Avoca are the main specimen lakes with carp up to 30lb and cats over 40lb, also holding big tench and barbel. Milo Lake is brilliant for huge bags of chub and barbel, it also holds a large head of good carp and specimen tench. Milo is also a great winter venue for big nets of chub.
Edwards is the new ‘Mad Carp’ pool that is heavily stocked with small carp as well as tench. Drumble has now been stocked with bigger carp to 20lbs+, plus plenty of barbel and chub.
Arena has 34 identical pegs with every one having an island to cast a feeder to. This lake is stuffed suez 1with barbel as well as carp, tench and bream. All methods work on this pool with pole down the edge or waggler to the island being productive in the summer. Arena has been chosen to host the final of Fish-o-Mania on July 19th 008 the most prestigious event in the angling world . Suez and Brewsters Canals are out and out pole waters designed for the match angler with carp, chub and tench tight over to the sedges. The New National Match Centre (over 6 lakes) shares 200 pegs and are now proving to be fantastic match venues with any peg on any pool capable of winning. With the carp now averaging between 4 and 6 lb., big match weights can be expected, with supporting tench, chub, barbel and hordes of silver fish.
